The Perfect Savory Pie Crust

This pie crust is my favorite recipe, and so easy to make. It yields a flaky crust that’s perfect for savory dishes.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 and 1/4 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 stick of cold, unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • Ice water

How You Make It:

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius)

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Mix together until combined. Add cubed butter and rub together with your fingers until a loose, sand like texture forms, with a few pea sized pieces of butter.

Slowly add ice water until the dough is crumbling, but comes together when squeezed.

Form the dough into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Store in fridge until the dough is firm, or up to three days.

Remove dough from fridge and roll out on a floured surface.

Place in a pie pan, fitting the dough into the bottom and corners of the pan, leaving a small amount of dough over lapping on the sides to take shrinking into account. Prick the bottom and sides of the dough.

Bake 10-15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
